Description
  • In this paper the problem of numerical approximation of non-Newtonian fluid flow with free surface is considered. Various industrial slurries are concentrated mixtures of very small particles and grains in water. Generally, these suspensions are non-Newtonian fluids exhibiting a yield stress that needs to be overcome for the flow to take place. Recently it has become possible to simulate a broad variety of flows with many different constitutive equations. The use of the finite element method for non-Newtonian flows was studied by various authors. The main interest is paid to the proper simulation of non-Newtonian fluid flow. The developed numerical procedure is applied on the solution of several free surface problems.

  • Článek se zabývá numerickou aproximací nenewtonovské tekutiny s volnou hranicí. Různé průmyslové kaly jsou koncentrované směsi malých částic a zrn ve vodě. Tyto směsi se obecně chovají jako nenewtonovské směsi s určitým mezním napětím, které musí být překonáno, aby směs začala téct. V současnosti je již možné simulovat různé typy nenewtonovských tekutin. Zde je řešen problém numerické aproximace vybrané tekutiny a řešena komplikace volné hranice. (cs)
