Description
| - The turbulent backward facing step and impinging jet flows of incompressible fluid are solved using Reynolds averaging approach by an artificial compressibility method. We consider AUSM finite volume space discretization with third order MUSCL interpolation. The integration in time is done using implicit (backward Euler) method. The finite volume grids are structured and multi-block. Several low-Re two-equation k-epsilon and k-omega models are reviewed, finding that none of them is overall acceptable. For better performance in the wall layer, the k-epsilon is chosen and modified by shear-stress-transport eddy viscosity limiter borrowed from the Menter's SST model. The modification is introduced into two variants of k-epsilon models including computationally favorable Chien model, with explicit friction velocity dependence removed. The modified models are shown to provide greatly improved results.
