Description
  • The demands on productivity of machine tools continue to increase and the technologies of high speed cutting (HSC) are applied more and more frequently. Machine tools for HSC have to enable high feed rates and high accelerations in all axis. Therefore the masses of moving parts of machine tools have to decrease and the power of feed drives has to increase. The high stiffness of basic machine frames has to be preserved at simultaneous decrease of moving masses. This paper presents some possibilities how to design light and stiff carrying parts of machine tools. A welded steel structure of a cross table and applied computational methods are presented in this paper. The results of computational and measuring data are compared.
