Description	The article describes initial research of two selected aspects influencing results of georeferencing. Spatial distribution of ground control points is the first aspect. Our aim is to find methods to give to user information about problems with set of points. Sta-tistical testing of the set is needed using point pattern analysis. The other aspect studied is dealing with influence of different cartographic projections of georeferenced map and reference coordinate system. For larger areas (continents, large states) it is necessary to keep in mind this aspect and begin the process of georeferencing with determining the projection of original map.
