Description
  • Concrete is used for various kinds of structures which are exposed to different types of loading and aggressive environment. High stress ranges caused by cyclic loading can result into accelerated crack propagation, higher deflection and consequently into fatigue failure. In the severe environment the aggressive agents which penetrate into the concrete (acids etc.) cause decomposition of the microstructure of concrete and reduce its matrix stiffness. It can be assumed that the interaction of cyclic loading and aggressive environment leads to higher long-term structural damage. The main goal of the experimental program presented in this paper is to quantify the combined effect of cyclic loading and aggressive environment on performance of concrete specimens.
