Description
| - For the cold-recycled mixtures, there is a typical combination of binders - the cement and the asphalt emulsion. The first part describes the possibility of substituting those by using the combination of the cement and the chemical additive RoadCem instead. There is no problem with reaching the required value of the indirect tensile strength even for the mixtures without RoadCem. This additive is nevertheless necessary for fulfilling the condition of the water resistance. The measured results proved, that even a small amount of RoadCem increases rapidly the water resistance, which means, that the potential of the substitution certainly exists. Another alternative is to replace classical materials by the properly treated soil. The lower bearing capacity of those mixtures means the necessity of using bigger amount of the hydraulic binder. This brings the danger of a quick strength increase, which could cause the origin of the hydration cracks. There were four different chemical additives (RoadCem, Iterstab, Top Shield and Base Seal), which should guarantee the flexibility of the whole layer, that were investigated in combination with three different hydraulic binders (cement, lime and fly ash). The results showed that this could be also a perspective alternative, mainly for the mixtures with cement.
