  • Příspěvek pojednává o různých teoretických i praktických aspektech konceptu udržitelnosti. Přestože je dnes udržitelný rozvoj prakticky uznávanou sociálně-ekonomickou strategií Evropské unie, diskuse a polemiky kolem tohoto konceptuálního i praktického principu neustávají. Nadále se vedou spory, zda pojem udržitelnosti vystihuje přírodní a sociální realitu, či se jedná o určitý politický projekt. Ozývá se kritika, že politika udržitelnosti omezuje svobodu a je druhem sociálního inženýrství. Strategie udržitelnosti vychází z dlouhodobé perspektivy rozvoje. To naráží na problémy v tranzitních společnostech, které za neudržitelný pokládají především svoje zaostávání za nejvyspělejšími zeměmi a chtěli by tento rozdíl vyrovnat co nejdříve. (cs)

Though a sustainable development is virtually an acknowledged socio-economic strategy of European Union, the discussions and polemics about this concept do not cease to occurr. The arguments are going on whether the concept of sustainability reflects natural and social reality or it is, in fact, a political project. Criticism is to be heard that the politics of sustainability curtails freedom and represents a kind of social engineering. Strategy of sustainability is based on a long-term concept of development. It sometimes makes the problems in the transitional societies, for which the most unsustainable fact is their lagging behind the leading countries and they would like to cancel this gap as fast as possible.
