Description	Paper discusses relation of mass tourism to cultural heritage stability based on knowledge taken from Central European experience. Vulnerability of small historic settlements to development pressures is studied. There are further analysed impacts and risks generated by a high attendance of visitors to cultural monuments as well as risks to visitors and their reduction possibilities. The contribution also deals with the role of cultural tourism in social and economic stability of cultural heritage sites and the needs of tourism concerning urban development and safeguarding planning. Je studována zranitelnost malých sídel developerskými tlaky. Dále jsou analyzovány dopady a rizika velkého počtu návštěvníků a naopak i rizika pro návštěvníky a jejich snížení. Článek se zabývá i rolí cestovního ruchu v sociální a ekonomické stabilitě sídla a potřebami jeho zahrnutí do plánovacích dokumentů. Na závěr jsou navržena doporučení pro tvorbu politiky řízení cestovního ruchu v historickém prostředí (cs)
