Description
  • The workshop focused mainly on the physics and chemistry of the coupling processes in the middle atmosphere and upper atmosphere-ionosphere systems. The mesosphere and lower thermosphere region is a critical region in the coupling between the lower/middle atmosphere and the upper atmosphere/ionosphere since it is here that physical processes filter and shape the flux of waves ascending through the mesosphere into the overlying thermosphere.  Workshop addressed electrodynamics of coupling processes, plansma instability formation, gravity, tidal and planetary wave propagation, thermal variability, and solar and geomagnetic activity, the downward control effects transferring from the strongly solar dependent structure to the lower atmospheric levels.
