  • We deal with the planetary wave type oscillations on foF2 above two Japanese and two US stations over a solar cycle (1979-1989) using wavelet transforms. Waves with periods near 5, 10 and 16 days are studied and only events of duration of three wave cycles and more are analyzed. The results are compared with our previous analysis for foF2 and the lower ionosphere above Europe. Typical persistence of oscillations is 4 wave cycles for 5-day, 3.5 for 10-day, and 3 wave cycles for 16-day oscillations in all three geographic areas. The spectral distribution of persistence is too broad to make prediction of their duration possible. Longitudinal extent of oscillations increases with their periods. The persistence of oscillations in foF2 and the lower ionosphere is very similar, but the similarity in occurrence of individual events is rather poor.

  • Zabýváme se oscilacemi typu planetárních vln v foF2 nad dvěmi ionosférickými stanicemi v Japonsku a dvěmi v USA za období 1979-1989 s použitím wavelet transformací. Studujeme vlny s periodami okolo 5, 10 a 16 dní a pouze případy trvající minimálně tři vlnové cykly. Výsledky jsou srovnány s naší dřívější analýzou pro foF2 a dolní ionosféru nad Evropou. Typické trvání oscilací je 4 vlnové cykly pro T = 5 dní, 3,5 vlnového cyklu pro T = 10 dní a 3 vlnové cykly pro T = 16 dní ve všech třech geografických oblastech. Spektrální rozdělení trvání oscilací je velmi široké, takže neumožňuje předpověď jejich trvání. Délkový rozsah oblasti oscilací roste s růstem jejich periody. Trvání oscilací v foF2 a dolní ionosféře nad Evropou je podobné, ale individuální případy výskytu oscilací si zpravidla neodpovídají. (cs)
