  • In this study we describe changes in the extracellular space diffusion parameters during transient global hypoxia/ischemia and subsequent reperfusion. Extracellular volume fraction (alfa) and tortuosity (beta) were determined in the rat somatosensory cortex using TMA+ iontophoretic method; diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging was used to determine the apparent diffusion coefficient of water. Transient ischemia was induced by bilateral common carotid artery clamping for 10 or 15 min and concomitant ventilation with 6% O2 in N2. In both groups we observed significant changes of diffusion parameters during hypoxic/schemic insult. The diffusion parameters after reperfusion recovered completely in group of animals exposed to hypoxia/ischemia of 10 min duration, whereas the diffusion parameters in animal group after 15 min hypoxia/ischemia remained significantly changed, suggesting developement of vasogenic edema.

  • V této práci jsme popsali změny difúzních parametrů extracelulárního prostoru v mozkové kůře potkana během tranzientní hypoxie/ischémie a následné reperfúze. Objemovou frakci (alfa) a tortuozitu (beta) jsme změřili pomocí TMA+ iontoforetické metody, k určení aparentního difúzního koeficientu vody jsme použili difúzně váženou magnetickou rezonanci. Tranzientní hypoxie/ischémie byla navozena oboustranným podvazem arteria carotis communis a současnou redukcí obsahu kyslíku ve vdechované směsi na 6% po dobu 10 nebo 15 minut. U obou skupin potkanů jsme pozorovali během hypoxie/ischémie signifikantní změny difúzních parametrů. Po reperfúzi došlo ke kompletní úpravě difúzních parametrů u skupiny zvířat, která byla vystavena hypoxii/ischémii po dobu 10 minut. Naproti tomu, u skupiny zvířat vystavené 15 min trvající hypoxii/ischémii jsme pozorovali přetrvávající změny difúzních parametrů odpovídající rozvoji vazogenního edému. (cs)
