Description	Disk theatre, Karel Hubáček, Jiří Hakulín, 1996-1998, Karlova Street 223/26, Prague 1 - Staré Město. In 1993 the theatre faculty of AMU in Prague (Academy of Performing Arts) had to leave the Disk theatre building in 8 Karlova Street and therefore found itself without its own stage. The site of the new building was the courtyard of the DAMU building also in Karlova Street, more exactly in a block between Karlova and Řetězová Street. Disk Theatre was set up during 1996–1998 under the direction of architects Karel Hubáček of Sial Liberec and Jiří Hakulín of Liberec’s A&D Studio. The building is interesting above all for its sensitive insertion into the surrounding historical development, and for the use of materials and an external form characteristic of Sial. The Machine Style exterior shape of a submarine’ was to harmonise with the purpose of the students’ theatre. Designer Karel Hubáček himself called the theatre Nautilus’.
