Description	This paper explores the recent history, regional correlates and social background of right wing extremism in the Czech Republic, namely of the Republican Party (SPR-RSC). First, it briefly describes the development of right-wing extremism in the Czech Republic over the last decade. Further, it tests the applicability of sociological theories about the rise of the extreme right in Europe to SPR-RSC. Next, some regional correlates of Czech right-wing extremism are investigated. A higher inclination towards right-wing extremism is found in rural regions with failure of SPR-RSC in the elections into the Chamber of Deputies in June 1998.
