Description	This article analyzes changes in the determination of Czech educational aspirations from 1989 to 2003, on the basis of social origin, ability, gender and other factors. The empirical research is based on a comparison of Czech data from the %22Rodina ’89%22 and the 2003 PISA-L surveys. The article hypothesizes that social origin had a stronger direct impact on educational aspirations in 1989, while in 2003 it had a much stronger indirect influence. The empirical results confirm this hypothesis. Zaměřuje se zejména na vliv sociálně-ekonomického původu, schopností, pohlaví a vnímaného významu vzdělání pro životní úspěch. Analýza je založena na datech z výzkumů 15-letých žáků (Rodina 1989, PISA-L-2003). Stať potvrzuje vstupní hypotézu, podle které v roce 1989 se vliv sociálního původu na aspirace prosazoval silněji přímo, zatímco v roce 2003 byl silnější vliv nepřímý, především prostřednictvím schopností.
