Description	The results of international project äBiographies of inhabitans in Euroregion Nisaô were presented. žThe international research team, composed of researchers from the University of Gottingen, the University of Wroclaw, and the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences in the Czech Republic, is aimed at gaining an understanding of national mentalities through an intergenerational comparison (žgrandparentsŽ and žgrandchildrenŽ). The elected biographical method makes it possible to more deeply penetrate the nature of the people, their experiences, assessments, and plans. During the seminar some conclusions about basic intergenerational mental types (persistencem modernisation , and break type) were discussed. The work in the project has proceeded to the initial, more general information on the level of the national studies. In the next stage, the research team will focus on a comparison of the conclusions in a supra-national perspective. Some conlusions presented on the seminar are resumed in t (en) Byly presentovány výsledky řešení mezinárodního projektu Biografie obyvatel euroregionu Nisa. Na projektu se vedle pořadatelské instituce Sociologického ústavu AV ČR podílí Universita Göttingen a Univerisita Wroclav. Výzkum usiluje o poznání národní povahy na základě mezigeneračního srovnání. (generace dědů a vnuků). Biografická metoda umožňuje proniknout hluboko k povahovým strukturám lidí, reflektuje jejich zkušenosti, hodnotové orientace i životní plány. Práce na řešení projektu umožnila presentovat některé obecné závěry na úrovni národních studií. Na semináři byly mimo jiné diskutovány závěry týkající se základních mezigeneračních povahových typů: persistentní, modernizační a zlomový. V příští práci se výzkumný tým soustředí na srovnávání poznatků na nadnárodní (Česko, Německo, Polsko) úrovni.
