Description	92 students from Gdansk University in Poland, who lived their formativeyears during an authoritarian rule in their country, Q-sorted 48political culture statements [designed to represent civic cultureparadigm] and ranked two sets of Rokeach values [instrumental andterminal]. The results were analyzed using Q-analysis procedures.The analyses revealed that the Polish student elite gave the strongestpreference to the 'civic' political culture. This result wasinterpreted as supporting democratic tendencies beyond what might havebeen expected in a post-communist society. However, the analysis alsoyielded schemata with prevalence of 'rebelliousness' and 'alienation'which may suggest susceptibility to demagogic movements during periodsof social and economic crisis.
