Description
  • This numerical study focuses on the recent AFM observations of Man et al. showing well-oriented grains in fatigued 316L austenitic stainless steel, however presenting no persistent slip markings (PSMs). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) permits us to build finite element (FE) meshes of the observed grain aggregates and to assign to the modelled grains the crystallographic orientations measured by electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD). Then, 3D FE computations using the crystalline elasticity allow the evaluation of mean grain stress tensors and resolved shear stresses. The results could explain qualitatively the anomalous behaviour of the studied well-oriented grains which is partly due to the particular orientations and shapes of the neighbour grains. This study highlights the influence of crystalline elasticity and neighbour grains in microplasticity and crack nucleation.

  • Práce se zabývá počítačovým modelováním experimentálních pozorování Mana et al. pomocí AFM, která odhalila vhodně orientovaná zrna u únavově zatěžované austenitické korozivzdorné oceli 316L, u nichž však nebyly pozorovány žádné perzistentní skluzové stopy (PSS). Ke generování sítí pro modelování pomocí metody MKP byly využity snímky získané rastrovací elektronovou mikroskopií (REM). Krystalografická orientace modelovaných zrn byla zjištěna pomocí metody EBSD (electron backscattering diffraction). Ke stanovení tenzorů středního napětí a smykových napětí uvnitř zrn byla požita metoda MKP v třídimenzionální formě s uvážením elasticity krystalu. (cs)
