Description	Recent advances and pending problems of positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) are illustrated by specific examples: (i) it is very hard to distinguish between various electron-positron interaction theories on the basis of the comparison of experimental and theoretical momentum densities of annihilation pairs, (ii) calculated positron affinities in semiconductors and insulators are underestimated, (iii) structure of nanocrystalline metals may be effectively studied by PAS.
