Description	The paper analyses the image of Montenegro presented in Czech travellogues from the end of the 19th century until WWI. In the preceding decades, the Czech authors who shaped the image of Montenegro were usually writers or artists strongly influenced by Slavic ideology. The new generation of authors consisted rather of scientists and pioneers of tourism. After 1890, the dominant image of Montenegro remained very positive. However, %22our brothers from the south,%22 as the Czechs often called Montenegrins and other South Slavs, were presented in a more realistic manner, including some aspects that had been previously overlooked, such as hygiene and attitudes toward labor.
