Description	The Cyanobacterial family Microchaetaceae, which was not up to now revised, is very heterogenous/polyphyletic. Based on both molecular and morphological analyses two new families Tolypotrichaceae and Godleyaceae were divided off Microchaetaceae. It has also been demonstrated, that concept of the genus Tolypothrix under Botanical and Bacteriological codes differs substantially and that the reference strain stated in the latter one belongs to another genus, than Tolypothrix.
