Description
| - In this study, 6 peaks possessing microcystin-like UV-spectra were detected by HPLC-DAD in chromatogram of extract of Planktothrix agardhii CCAP 1460/13 laboratory culture. Total concentration of these compounds corresponded to 4523 mug/g DW of microcystin-LR equivalents. Two most abundant peaks (corresponding to concentration 4056 and 242 mug/g DW) were identified by LC-MS analysis as demethylated isoforms of microcystin-RR and LR, ([D - Asp3] MCYST-RR) and ([D - Asp3] MCYST-LR). Planktothrix strain CCAP 1460/13 was identified as a potent producer of demethylated variants of these microcystins.
