  • We tested the decomposition efficiency of Setulipes androsaceus (a key litter decomposer in spruce forests) on three categories of Norway spruce needles of different quality (integrity, nutrients, HAP, catechin): (1) senesced brown needles, (2) intact green needles, and (3) frass pellets produced by sawfly (Cephalcia sp.) caterpillars. Needles from each category were cultivated both separately and in combination for 4 months. Green needles were well colonized by S. androsaceus. Neither the green nor the brown needles exhibited a more rapid rate of decomposition when cultivated in combination with another category of needles. Another fungal decomposer Thysanophora penicillioides induced less weight loss than S. androsaceus but degraded the two phenolics to a similar extent. The increased proportions of green needles and frass pellets in spruce forest floor litter due to bark-beetle or sawfly outbreaks will be accompanied by temporarily increased decomposition activity of S. androsaceus.

  • Sledovali jsme aktivitu druhu Setuplipes androsaceus, hlavního dekomponenta opadu ve smrčinách, ve srovnání s druhem Thysanophora penicillioides, na rychlost rozkladu tří hlavních složek opadu z horských smrčin a jejich obsah fenolických látek, abychom odhadli vliv přemnožení kůrovce a ploskohřbetky produkující velká množství zeleného jehličí a trusinek v opadu. Hnědé jehličí z přirozeného spadu jsme spolu se zeleným jehličím a trusinkami ploskohřbetky v různých kombinacích inkubovali po 4 měsíce s oběma druhy hub. Přítomnost dalšího druhu jehličí rychlost rozkladu nezvyšovala. T. penicillioides způsobovala nižší váhový úbytek jehličí, ale dvě hlavní fenolické látky, HAP a katechin, rozkládala ve stejné míře. Přestože se S. androsaceus nachází v přírodě především na hnědém jehličí, v pokusných podmínkách úspěšně kolonizovala i jehličí zelené. (cs)
