Description	The relationship between clonal growth types and plant rarity has been tested at local and regional scales. The participation of rare species in types of clonal growth differed from that of common plants. Plants with root tubers, shoot tubers and turions were overrepresented among extinct and threatened taxa at the regional scales. Evolutionary aspects of this pattern are discussed.
