Description	Results of investigation of thin doped silica layers coated by the sol-gel method inside silica tubes and heat-treated at temperatures from 1000 to 2000 o C are reported. These effects are studied on preforms prepared by the tube collapse. It is shown that the content of silica in the layer increases at least five times in comparison with that of the sol composition. The measurements show that fibers drawn from the preforms exhibit some remaining unsatuared absorption of erbium ions at 1535 nm.
