  • An apparatus where individual bubbles are kept stationary in a downward liquid flow was adapted to follow: mass transfer to/from a single bubble as it gets contaminated; its shape; and its terminal velocity. Apparatus allows bubbles to be monitored for much longer time periods than the monitoring of rising bubbles. Thus, the effect of trace contaminants on bubbles of low solubility gases may be studied. Experiments were done with air bubbles of 1-5 mm initial equivalent diameter. The partial pressure of air in the liquid could be manipulated, for bubbles to be either dissolving or keeping constant diameter. Both drag coefficient and mass transfer results were interpreted in terms of bubble contamination kinetics by a simplified stagnant cap model.

  • Aparatuta kde jednotlivé bubliny jsou drženy stacionárně v proudu kapaliny tekoucí dolů byla přizpůsobena pro měření přestup hmoty do/z jednotlivé bubliny když je kontaminována, sledování jejího tvaru a rychlosti jejího stoupání. Aparatura dovoluje aby bubliny byly monitorovány po mnohem delší časové periody než při monitorování stoupajících bublin. Takto může být studován vliv stop kontaminantů na bubliny málo rozpustných plynů. Byly prováděny experimenty s bublinami vzduchu s počátečním ekvivalentním průměrem 1-5 mm. Parciální tlak vzduchu v kapalině mohl být ovlivňován buď pro bubliny které se rozpouštějí nebo pro bubliny držící konstantní průměr. Výsledky koeficientu odporu i data přestupu hmoty byly interpretovány pomocí kinetiky kontaminace bublin pro zjednodušený stagnat cup model. (cs)
