  • The effects of three groups of polymeric foils on the behavior of human MG 63 osteoblast-like cells were investigated. These included (1) poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) and a copolymer of L-lactide and trimethylene carbonate (PLTMC 50:50), (2) three samples made of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone copolymer (PGCap) with different surface roughness and topography, and finally (3) copolymer of glycolide with L-lactide (PGLA) with and without modification with hydroxyapatite deposits. On day 8 after seeding, the cell numbers on the tested symplex equaled with or even exceeded the values on control polystyrene dishes, especially on PGLA with hydroxyapatite deposits. The cells on the samples with the highest surface roughness were roundly shaped with relatively small adhesion area
