  • V review jsou shrnuty nejnovější znalosti o mitochondriích jako zdroji reaktivních kyslíkových sloučenin, o výtoku superoxidu, peroxidu vodíku z mitochondrií, o tvorbě peroxinitritu a mitochondriálního NO a jejich efektech. Vyslovili jsme hypotézu, že náhlý pokles generace superoxidu v mitochondriích způsobí, že detoxifikační mechanismy mají volnou kapacitu na snížení reaktivních kyslíkových sloučenin a oxidačních modifikací jak v cytosolu tak v extracellulárním milieu (cs)
  • The recent knowledge on mitochondria as the substantial source of reactive oxygen species, namely superoxide and hydrogen peroxide efflux from mitochondria, is reviewed, as well as nitric oxide and subsequent peroxynitrite generation in mitochondria and their effects. We hypothesize that a sudden decline of mitochondrial ROS production converts cells or their microenvironment into a “ROS sink” represented by the instantly released excessive capacity of ROS-detoxification mechanisms
