Description	A talajból kibocsátott szén-dioxid (CO2), a talajlégzés (Rs), az ökológiai rendszerek szénforgalmának egyik legnagyobb részarányú komponense, így meghatározó a rendszer CO2-mérlegének alakításában is (NAGY et al., 2011). A talajlégzés folyamatos, változó mértékű CO2-áramot jelent a talaj felől az atmoszféra felé. Folyamatos mérésével olyan részletes adatsor nyerhető, amelynek időbeli felbontása nem is hasonlítható az alkalomszerű mérésekéhez. Ilyen mérési adatok elemzésével jobban értelmezhetővé válik az Rs környezeti változókra adott válasza, illetve csökkenthető annak bizonytalansága (SAVAGE et al., 2013). A nagyobb időbeli felbontású mérések szükségességét (RUEHR et al., 2009) a talaj CO2-kibocsátásának napi változékonysága, a ható tényezőkre adott esetenkénti gyors válaszok (pl. csapadékeseményeket követő változások) is indokolják. Soil CO2 efflux (Rs) is one of the largest components of the terrestrial carbon balance,so it has a strong influence on the sink/source characteristics of ecosystems. Due to the dynamic diurnal and seasonal changes of Rs it is difficult to describe its annual or daily courses by data from occasional (manual) measurements, while automated systems allow the changes in Rs to be followed quasi-continuously. Continuous measurements also reduce the uncertainties in the response of Rs to abiotic (e.g. temperature, soil water content) and biotic (e.g. biomass, photosynthetic carbon uptake) drivers due to the large number of measurements. Continuous measurements provide data for periods when occasional measurements are usually not performed (e.g. during nights or rainy days). Due to the high variability of Rs during these periods it is crucial to include them in estimating the annual Rs balance. Commercially available automated soil respiration systems have been developed to perform frequent Rs measurements. Their disadvantages include the disturbance of the vegetation (regular removal), the potential failure of the opening-closing systems of the chambers, and the associated high cost. (en)
