  • A sensitivity analysis investigating the effect of woody elements introduced into the Discrete Anisotropic Radiative Transfer (DART) model on the nadir bidirectional reflectance factor (BRF) for a simulated N. spruce canopy was performed at a very high spatial resolution. Three scenarios were studied by modelling the N. spruce canopy as being composed of i) leaves, ii) leaves, trunks and main branches, and finally iii) leaves, trunks, main branches and small twigs. The influence of woody elements was evaluated separately for both, sunlit and shaded parts of the simulated canopy and the simulated nadir BRF was compared with measured AISA Eagle data. The incorporation of small woody parts in DART caused the canopy reflectance to decrease about 4% in the near-infrared. Finally, we conclude on the importance of including woody elements in radiative transfer and discuss the applicability of the vegetation indices as well as the physically based inversions to retrieve the forest canopy LAI.

  • Vliv dřevní biomasy na simulovanou odrazivost smrkového porostu v blízké části infra-červeného spektra byl detailně zkoumán pomocí modelu přenosu slunečního záření skrze vegetaci (model DART) na úrovni velmi vysokého prostorového rozlišení. Byly testovány tři scénáře s různým zastoupením dřevní biomasy: i) jenom listová biomasa, ii) listová biomasa, kmen a hlavní větve, a iii) listová biomasa, kmen, hlavní větve a drobné větvičky. Vliv dřevní hmoty byl hodnocen zvlášť pro osluněné a zastíněné části simulovaného korunového zápoje. Simulovaná odrazivost byla přímo srovnána s daty měřenými leteckým senzorem AISA Eagle. Zahrnutí dřevní biomasy do modelu DART způsobilo pokles v odrazivosti v blízké části infra-červeného spektra zhruba o 4%. Získané výsledky sloužily k ohodnocení možnosti využití vegetačních indexů, a přístupů založených na inverzi modelů přenosu slunečního záření skrze vegetaci, pro odhad indexu listové plochy lesních smrkových porostů.
