Description
  • The objective of the study was to investigate whether there are differences in growth performance and chemical body composition of two ROSS and COBB hybrid combinations of chickens at the end of the fattening period at 40 days of age. Chickens of the hybrid combination ROSS showed statistically highly significantly (P ? 0.01) and significantly (P ? 0.05) higher mean live body weight as compared to the COBB chickens during the fattening period, which demonstrates their higher growth performance. Except for days 1 - 5 during which lower conversion of feed mixture in COBB chickens was observed, the conversion of feed mixture during the total fattening period was almost comparable. Regarding the monitored parameters of chemical composition and energy value of chickens' bodies (dry matter, nitrogenous substances - NS, fat, ash, Ca, P, Mg and gross energy), higher mean values of NS and Mg (statistically highly significant difference, P ? 0.01) and of Ca (statistically significant difference, P ? 0.05) were observed in COBB chickens in comparison to ROSS chickens.
