Description
(cs)
  • In iguanas ther appears to be a pattern in steroid concentrations related to the various stages of the reproductive cykle. However the number of observations was too low to the low number of available blood samples to establisch a complete pattern. As determined in the Brno in the intact females, there is a distinct pattern of steroid concentrations consistent with the vitellogenic phase and gravidity. Indicating that the steroid hormones play an important role in process of vitellogenesis, ovulation and oviposition. In the POFS patients the very low concentration of oestradiol and the higher concentration of progesteron are evident. Also a high progesterone concentration may play a role in iguanas with follicle stasis. The number of follicle stasis patients is too low to make final conclusion. More research must be done on a larger group of intact female iguanas to determine the steroid fluctuations and concentrations related to viellogenesis, ovulation, gravidity and oviposition in iguanas.
