Description
  • The goal of the trial was to reduce the content of antinutritional substances in Pisum sativum in order to enhance its use in livestock nutrition. A variety of field pea (Pisum sativum) with a high content of antinutritional substances and favourable output parameters (%22Gothic%22) was chosen. The technology (V-0 technology, patent No. 285745) was further modified by adjusting the reactor temperature, the duration of exposure to that temperature, and the duration of ageing of the material thus treated (V-Iand V-II technologies).Pre-treatment and post-treatment nutritional and chemical analysis of the field pea samples found no significant differences. As far as antinutritional substances were concerned, the content of trypsin inhibitors dropped by 84%, the content of lectins decreased as much as by 73% depending on the kind of treatment. The above-described methods of field pea treatment, especially the V-II variant, have proved practical and can be recommended for practical use.
