Description
  • Changes in structures and amount of epicuticular waxes on Norway spruce needles have been followed in imiimission regions and in regions without air pollution during the last three years. After an unfavourable winter season 1995/96 in the Ore Mts., due to high immission load and unfavourable climatic conditions, there was a considerable destruction of epicuticularwaxes on spruce needles and amount of waxes decreased. In the past two years a lesser destruction of epicuticular waxes has been monitored and also their total amount was on increase. The damages to epicuticular waxes in the Ore Mts. increase with growing altitude. The amount of immission load in this regionis still higher than it should correspond to ideal growth conditions for Norway spruce.
