  • In the present work, a new simple method is suggested that enables modificaiton the intrinsic density pattern of particleboards. This is accomplished by inserting a stainless steel pattern into the hotpress, imprinting a geometric pattern into the particleboard furnish prior to curing. The results are divided in two sections, firstly (1) the mechanical properties of the prepared panels were determinet. The MOE and MOR indicated decrease of the properties when the imprinted density pattern modification was used and IB properties has shown significant increase (+64 %). (2) Secondly the FEM model delivered results of the novel panel with differently placed veneer overlays. According to FEM the veneer overlay will mitigate decline of the bending properties.
