Description	Functional traits of the seed bank in the context of the age of the forest stand were studied in flood forests in the south of the Czech Republic. There were 97 soil samples taken in total. To assess the species composition, sieving and separation methods were used. The relationship of the age of forest stand with certain functional traits was analysed using linear models. Several functional traits showed significant correlations. Functional traits related to flowering and seed shedding were negatively correlated with forest stand age. The same tendency was valid for potential seed productivity and life form in the case of chamaephytes. Positive correlation was recorded within the life cycle in the case of annuals, within life forms in the case of geophytes and within plant strategy in cases of stress tolerant species and ruderals. The age of the forest stand significantly influenced most of the functional traits analysed.
