  • Barley is a natural source of many chemical compounds with a positive effect on the human organism -- these are mainly the substances with antioxidant effects, vitamins and certain forms of dietetic fiber. Some of these substances are involved into the processes that reduce risks of cardiovascular and other civilization diseases. In future, for food purposes, special varieties with genetically conditioned enhanced content of food fiber (especially soluble beta-glucans), vitamin E (in a form of vitamers of tocopherols and tocotrienols) and essential amino acids (especially lysine and threonine) will find the best use.   • Vitamín E je jeden z nejdůležitějších antioxidantů v organismu. Vitamíny rozpustné v tucích jsou zvláště důležité při vychytávání volných radikálů v organismu. Vitamín E, C a beta-karoten působí preventivně proti karcinomu plic, žaludku a tlustého střeva. Positivní role vitamínu E byla zjištěna i u koronárních chorob. Rostlinné oleje jsou hlavním zdrojem vitamínu E, ale velké množství je i v cereáliích - v ječmeni, rýži, pšenici, ovsu a tritikale. Vitamín E se vyskytuje ve formách isomerů: alfa-, beta-, gama-, delta- tokoferoly a tokotrienoly. (cs)
