Description
  • An upright posture is a typical position for the man. The acquirement and stabilisation of the vertical position of the body is very complicated process that requires the co-operation of the central nervous system and musculoskeletal system. The central nervous system processes much afferent information that come from vestibular, optical and proprioceptive apparatuses. Disturbances in afferent information lead to failure in efferent input. The aim of our study was to assess how the absence of the anterior cruciate ligament (LCA) proprioceptive afferent input influences the balance control during the upright position. The other task of the study was to determine how the surgical reconstruction of the LCA modifies the balance control mechanisms. The balance and adaptation tests were carried out on twenty people after rupture of the LCA. The measurement consisted of ten postural tests. Each of the proband was tested before the operation, three weeks after the operation (the reconstruction of the LCA)
