Description
| - Movement activity is an essential means for the strengthening of physical and mental health. Aside from positive effects, movement can also have negative influence on human health. This is true to the same extent for both hypo- and hyperkinesis, which can lead to mechanical and biological changes of individual elements of the movement system and a lowering of resistence of the movement apparatus to outer mechanical influences. A complete elimination of negative effects of movement would be impossible, but we must make every effort towards reduction thereof. Prevention is dependent on a knowledge of the factors and mechanisms of how injury occurs. There are a number of mechanisms for the occurence of injury of the movement apparatus (Leadbetter, 1994): contact and impact, dynamic overload, overuse, structural vulnerability, inflexibility, muscle imbalance, and rapid growth. Further factors significantly influencing the risks of injury are age, gender, degree to which the body has been trained, th
