  • By applying analytical, comparative critical and inductive-deductive methods on a theoretical level, the inquiry-based instruction is placed within engineer training and defined as a matter of pedagogical theory and practice with prospects of further development in an international context. The present work defines terminology related to the studied matter and develops the area of inquiry-based task creation. Another section of this work focuses on new trends in use of didactic experiments, which form a traditional part of engineer training with a variety of possibilities for further development. The work focuses on solving problems related to experimenting at schools, on solving problems associated with didactic aspects, and also deals with benefits of experiments for students. Last but not least, it emphasises the importance of carrying out school experiments through remote and virtual labs which have been becoming more important mainly in distant education using E-learning. The work takes into consideration the demands of today's education, especially in the context of developing specialized competencies of students, which put an emphasis on use of activating educational techniques based on constructivist theories. The studied matter is dealt with across various fields and findings are applied in all engineering fields, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, theory of materials and information technologies.
