Description
  • The authors have applied the amended legislation regulating the education of pupils with specific needs in the Czech Republic as of the beginning of the 21st century, they have focused on the competencies the pupils with mild mental retardation should master by the time they complete primary school, and they have attempted to meet the presented expectations with research outcomes obtained under the Czech Science Foundation's project %22Educational Conditions of Children, Pupils and Students with Special Education needs%22. The main results concerning the reading and mathematical literacy are presented along with the proposed possible measures to improve the situation.
