  • Adiponectin is involved in the regulation of glucose and fatty acid metabolism, influences whole-body insulin sensitivity and protects arterial walls against the development of atherosclerosis. Plasma adiponectin is decreased in obese, insulin-resistant and Type 2 diabetic patients. Adiponectin circulates in plasma as high-, medium- and low-molecular-weight ('mass') forms (HMW, MMW and LMW respectively). The HMW form is believed to be closely associated with insulin sensitivity. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether diet-induced changes in body weight and insulin sensitivity were associated with changes in the quantity of adiponectin multimeric complexes.   • Adiponektin se účastní regulace metabolismu glukosy a mastných kyselin, ovlivňuje citlivost vůči insulinu a chrání před atherosklerózou. Adiponektin v plazmě se snižuje při obezitě a u diabetes. Plazmový adiponektin se vyskytuje ve formě oligomerních forem. Cílem studie bylo popsat, zda změny v tělesné váze citlivosti k insulinu jsou spojeny se změnami v zastoupení oligomerních forem adiponektinu. Vzorek pacientů (20), žen s obesitou či nadváhou, byl podroben hypokalorické dietě v délce 12 týdnů. Po skončení diety byl zjištěn výrazný úbytek nadváhy doprovázený zvýšením adiponektinu v plazmě a zvýšenou citlivostí k insulinu. Zvýšeny byly všechny formy adiponektinu tj. HMW, MMW a LMW, přičemž nebyla zjištěna korelace mezi nárůstem koncentrace adiponektinu a zvýšenou citlivostí k insulinu. (cs)
