| - Capsule Using an experimental approach, this study disentangles effects of two important sources on the elicitation of aggressive interspecific behaviour. Aims To investigate experimentally whether competition for nest cavities and/or food can explain aggressive behaviour between competing species.Methods The Collared Flycatcher's Ficedula albicollis responses to mounts of Great Tit Parus major (nest-site and food competitor), Chaffinch Fringillo coelebs (food competitor) and Dunnock Prunella modularis (control species) were tested. Trials were performed near flycatchers' nests during nest building, incubation and care of nestlings.Results The intensity of dive attacks and frequency of contact attacks showed that the aggression of Collared Flycatchers decreased in the direction: Great Tit > Chaffinch > Dunnock. The difference in aggressiveness was greater between Great Tit and Chaffinch than between Chaffinch and Dunnock. Aggression directed toward Great Tits increased from the nest building

- Cílem studie bylo otestovat, jestli může konkurence o hnízdní dutiny nebo potravu vysvětlit mezidruhově zaměřenou agresi. Pro tyto účely jsem sledoval, jak lejsci bělokrcí (Ficedula albicollis) reagují na atrapy jiných druhů. Konkrétně se jednalo o sýkoru koňadru (Parus major), která si s lejsky konkuruje jak o potravu, tak o hnízdní dutiny, pěnkavu obecnou (Fringilla coelebs), která si s lejsky konkuruje pouze o potravu a pěvušku obecnou (Prunella modularis), kterou jsem vybral jako kontrolní druh. Pokusy jsem prováděl poblíž lejsčích hnízd během tří fází hnízdního cyklu - kladení vajec, inkubace a péče o mláďata. Intenzita prudkých průletů a frekvence kontaktních útoků klesala ve směru koňadra > pěnkava > pěvuška. Rozdíl v agresivitě byl větší mezi koňadrou a pěnkavou než mezi pěnkavou a pěvuškou. Agrese ke koňadře byla nejvyšší ve fázi inkubace vajec. Samci byli agresivnější než samice. Tyto výsledky naznačují, že konkurence o hnízdní dutiny a v menším rozsahu i konkurence o potravu mohou mít chara (cs)
