Description	On the example of the Silesian writer Ernst Wolfgang Freissler, the chapter applies the anthropological cultural perspective (Clifford Geertz, Doris Bachmann-Medick) to the regional literature of the interwar period. The chapter focuses on Freisslers autobiographical and fictional texts about Egypt, analyzes their intercultural impact and compares these with other historical and literary presentations of Egypt (Ingeborg Bachmann). In this way the chapter demonstrates that Freissler as the translator and the first propagator of Joseph Conrad in the German-speaking lands adopts Conrads ethnographical perspective and extends it to a regional third space (Homi Bhabha). (en) Das Kapitel überträgt paradigmatisch am Werk des schlesischen Autors Ernst Wolfgang Freisssler die anthropologisch-kulturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive (Geertz, Bachmann-Medick) auf die regionale Literatur der Zwischenkriegszeit. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Freisslers autobiographische und fiktive Texte zu Ägypten, die in ihrer interkulturellen Reichweite untersucht und mit historischen und literarischen Beschreibungen Ägyptens (Ingeborg Bachmann) verglichen werden. Dabei zeigt sich, dass Freissler als Übersetzer und erster Propagator Joseph Conrads im deutschsprachigen Raum dessen ethnographischen Blick übernimmt und zu einem regionalen third space (Bhabha) erweitert.
