  • L'articolo esamina la natura dello scambio epistolare tra Giovanni di Streda, il cancelliere dell'imperatore Carlo IV, e Petrarca.
  • This paper examines the nature of the correspondence between Petrarch and the imperial chancellor, Johannes Novoforensis (also known as Jan of Streda or Johannes of Neumarkt). It reaches the conclusion that between the two men there must not have been any warm friendship, their letters are short, superficial and full of formal courtesies, and Petrarch does not seem to have any visible influence on the literary taste or mentality of Johannnes. This epistolary exchange has mainly social and historical importance, with no relevant contribution, at least at the time, to the diffusion of humanism in Central Europe. (en)
