| - The chapter brings a thorough characteristic of Humanism and Renaissance and deals with their reception and development in the Czech Lands. The issue of existence of Czech renaissance literature, the work of Hynek z Poděbrad. Two important tendencies within Czech Humanism: Latin Humanism - dominant within non-fiction and so-called occasional poetry, and nationally oriented Humanism. Infiltration of the Czech language to all genres of literature and the role of printers in the expansion of national Humanism. The Kralice Bible as the best product of Czech Humanist translation. The second part of the chapter surveys the climax of humanistic and Renassance tendencies and the influence of the Reformation on thee formation of Czech literature (between the Habsburk accession to the throne and the Battle of the White Mountain. - Kapitola věnovaná obsáhlejší charakteristice humanismu a renesance a problematice jejich recepce a rozvíjení v českém prostředí. Otázka existence české renesanční literatury, dílo Hynka z Poděbrad. Dva významné proudy - humanismus latinský, který se stále uplatňuje v naukové literatuře a v tzv. příležitostné poezii. Humanismus národní, proniknutí češtiny do všech vrstev literatury, úloha tiskařů při šíření národního humanismu. Vrchol českého humanistického překladu - Bible kralická. Druhá část kapitoly mapuje vyvrcholení humanistických a renesančních tendencí a vliv reformace na utváření české literatury (období od nástupu Habsburků do bitvy na Bílé hoře).
