  • Dear Sir, We read with great interest the recent article by Glaudemans et al. [1]. The authors aimed to indentify the most accurate white blood cell (WBC) scintigraphy acquisition and interpretation protocols in patients with musculoskeletal infections. They recommend using optimal acquisition times (at 3-4 h and 20 - 24 h after injection) and interpretation criteria based on estimation of the increase in the lesion-to-reference (L/R) ratio. Visual analysis of time decay-corrected images is sufficient in the majory of cases. We consider that the conclusion of the article would be clearer if the authors had eliminated the risk of selection bias by adding a reevaluation of all L/R ratios in the subgroup of patients with a hip prosthesis only.
