| - Sanguinaria canadesis, Chelidonium majus and Macleya cordata have been used for centuries as alternative medicines. Currently the extracts from these medicinal plants are components of veterinary and human phytopreparations, and of oral-hygiene agents. Sanguinarine and chelerythrine (SA/CHE) are biologically active components of these extracts. They display distinct antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, but, on the other hand, they have been reported as having adverse effects # genotoxicity and hepatotoxicity. This paper is aimed at evaluation of the effects of daily administration of the extract from Macleya cordata (2 mg and 100 mg in 1 kg feed, sanguinarine:chelerythrine 3:1) in the diet on the health status of swine. After 90-day administration, alkaloids were retained to a different extent in tissues. The highest SA/CHE retention was detected in the gingiva (0.55 g/g) and liver (0.15 g/g), no SA/CHE were detected in muscles. Plasma SA levels attained 0.11 g/ml. Treated animals did not d

- Sanguinaria canadesis, Chelidonium majus a Macleya cordata byly po staletí využívány v lidovém léčitelství. V dnešní době jsou extrakty těchto léčivých rostlin součástí veterinárních a humánních fytopřípravků a také přípravků ústní hygieny. Sanguinarin a chelerythrin (SA/CHE) jsou biologicky aktivními složkami těchto extraktů. Mají výrazný antibakteriální a protizánětlivý účinek, ale na druhou stranu jsou spojovány s nežádoucími účinky - genotoxicitou a hepatotoxicitou. Tato práce je zaměřena na hodnocení vlivu každodenního podávání extraktu z Macleya cordata v potravě (2 mg a 100 mg v 1 kg krmiva, sanguinarin:chelerythrin 3:1) na zdravotní stav prasat. Po 90-ti denní aplikaci byly alkaloidy nalezeny ve tkáních v rozdílných množstvích. Nejvyšší retence SA/CHE byla nalezena v gingivě (0,55 #g/g) a játrech (0,15 #g/g), žádný SA/CHE nebyl nalezen ve svalech. Hladina SA v plasmě dosahovala hodnoty 0,11 #g/ml.
