| - CYP enzymy metabolizují xenobiotika. Role cytochromů P450 v toxicitě xenobiotik udává fakt, že produkty získané reakcemi s P450 jsou často více škodlivé než samotná sloučenina. Nejvýznamnější cytochrom P450 u člověka je CYP3A4. CYP3A4 je odpovědný za metabolismus většiny známých xenobiotik. (cs)
- The CYP enzzymes metabolizing xenobiotics are present in the liver as well as in other parts of the gastrointestinal tract, in the lung, kidney, heart, nasal epithelium, leukocytes and other tissues. The role cytochromes P450 in toxicity of xenobiotics is given by fact that the products of P450 - mediated reactions are often more harmful than the parent compound itself. The most important cytochrome P450 for man is the CYP3A4 enzyme. The CYP3A4 is responsible for metabolism of the majority of known xenobiotics.
