Description
  • PermonQP is a software package extending the software framework for numerical computations PETSc with support of quadratic programming (QP). It provides base for QP solution. It includes data structures, transformations, algorithms and support functions for QP. The programming interface (API) is designed in order to be easy to use but at the same time efficient and suitable for HPC. PermonQP as a stand-alone package allows solving unconstrained QP problems (i.e. linear systems with a positive semidefinite matrix) or equality constrained ones. Examples of equality constraints are for instance so called multipoint constraints or the alternative enforcing of Dirichlet boundary conditions without modifying the stiffness matrix. PermonQP capabilities can be further extended by separate packages PermonIneq and/or PermonFLLOP. PermonIneq offers algorithms for solution of inequality constrained QP problems which appear in disciplines such as contact mechanics, least-squares regression, data fitting, data mining, support vector machines, control systems and others. PermonFLLOP implements domain decomposition methods which allow efficient utilization of parallel computers with up to tens of thousands of processor cores for solution of problems with dimensions up to billions of unknowns.

  • Balík PermonQP je volně šířitelný a má otevřený kód (open source). Umožňuje spočítat určité úlohy zmíněné v anotaci, které by s využitím běžně dostupných lineárních řešičů nebylo možné spočítat, případně by musely být ručně zjednodušovány, což je časově náročný ruční proces. Navíc lze efektivně využití paralelních počítačů až do desetitisíců procesorových jader, a tím výrazně zkrátit čas na řešení nebo spočítat úlohy tak rozsáhlé, že by je nebylo možné spočítat na běžných počítačích.

  • Balík PermonQP je napsán v jazyce C. Díky využití PETSc je použitelný na všech hlavních operačních systémech a architekturách osobních počítačů i superpočítačů. Ve spojení s balíkem PermonFLLOP lze efektivně využít až desetitisíců procesorových jader pro řešení úloh s dimenzí až miliard neznámých. Testy jsou prováděny na běžných osobních počítačích a několika evropských superpočítačích.
