Description
  • Titania belongs due to its excellent photochemical activity and other photo-induced phenomena to materials under keen scientific research. Carbon dioxide is the main contributor to the greenhouse effect and the global concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing mainly due to the emissions from fossil fuel combustion. The reduction of CO2 over photocatalysts is one of the promising methods of its removal since carbon dioxide can be reduced to valuable compounds such as methane, ethane, methanol etc. by its irradiation using the UV light at ambient temperature and pressure. Based on the motivation to found out the most suitable TiO2 catalyst and its microstructural and structural parameters for the CO2 photocatalytic reduction, several TiO2 anatase powders were synthesized according to our previous knowledge and the correlation between micro/structural and optical properties of TiO2 and its photocatalytic performance in the CO2 reduction by water was investigated.
